Kitsune are yokai that look like large foxes with multiple tails. They are known to possess superior intelligence and magical powers. A kitsune's wisdom and power are also greater as the number of tails increases, with the most powerful being the nine-tailed kitsune. Kitsune are tricksters, with variations ranging from the mischievous to the malevolent. Some mischievous kitsune attack overly proud samurai, greedy merchants, and pretentious commoners, while the most evil ones abuse poor merchants and farmers, or devout monks. In combat, kitsune prefer to keep their distance, using their arcane powers to unleash flames of aqshy and confuse their enemies with the wind of ulgu.
