Estalia is a nation divided into small kingdoms and lacking a central authority, so it is not surprising that small wars are constantly waged between nobles and lords to expand their domains or crush potential rivals. The bulk of these forces are made up of Hombres villanos professional mercenary soldiers from a myriad of backgrounds, some are peasants who leave their boring lifes in search of adventure, others are cutthroats, bandits and renegades who join this mercenary bands to escape justice. Regardless of their origin, once they join they will undergo rigorous training even harder than that of the imperial state troops or the Cathayan jade warriors, as their reputation as mercenaries depends on being well prepared for all kinds of combat. The hombres villanos are lightly armored and use a wide variety of melee and missile weapons such as spears, pikes, halberds, swords, shields, crossbows, arquebuses, and falconetes. This makes the hombres villanos a flexible and reliable force to emloy as the backbone of any estalian force as long as one has the money to pay them.
