Warhammer Nippon concept fanart: Shinobi

Shinobi are the young apprentices of the human ninja clans of Nippon. They have only recently been initiated into the secrets of the clan, and trained in the arts of stealth and sabotage. With speed and reflexes that no common man could match, they don't need to wear heavy armor, they just need to dodge their enemies' attacks. The shinobi are used to "soften up" the enemy armies before the battle starts. Night raids, the provocation of selective fires in enemy positions or the contamination of water reserves are some of the favorite tactics. On the battlefield, they are often tasked with disabling enemy war machines, ambushing exposed flanks, or eliminating unprotected units. Shinobi use a wide variety of weapons and poisons to accomplish their goals, but in fact it is their ability to appear at any point on the battlefield, as if out of nowhere, that makes them most fearsome.
