The ronin are those oni who have lost their status as samurai either because their clan no longer exists or because they have fallen out of favor with their lord. These wandering vagabonds sometimes form bands that sell themselves as mercenaries to other samurai clans who, although they cannot be fully trusted as most ronin are not very honorable, are still formidable combatants.
